1/14-1/16 Day One What a fun tournament! We went undefeated the first day of play. We had a pretty good showing for our first experience in the 16’s division. Girls got a taste of what it is like to play against big blocks. Kaila Robinson from14 Team Rox joined us as we were down one of our starters. Top Stats Most Kills: Brooke (22), Lauren (11), Sophie (11) Best Hitting Percentage: Brooke (.255%), Ryleigh (.200%) Serves: Abby (10/10 at 100%), Christina (25/26 at 96%) Most Aces: Lauren (7), Brooke (4), Ryleigh (4) Digs: Abby (17), Sophie (15) Passing: Abby (2.0) and Sophie (1.9) Day Two We won two matches against Athena and North West Jr’s to begin our day. We then lost to Reign in 3 sets. We struggled with trying to control the ball. While we did not play our best, we still managed to qualify and play in the gold division on day three. Top Stats: Most Kills: Brooke (18), Kate (16) Best Hitting Percentage: Sophie (.333%), Kate (.306%) Serves: Sophie (26/26 at 100%), Ryleigh (31/31 at 100%) Most Aces: Brooke (6), Sophie (4), Lauren (4) Digs: Sophie (20), Abby (18) Top Passers: Sophie (2.5), Abby (2.2) Christina (2.2), Ryleigh (2.2) Day Three We played in the gold division with the top 16 teams. We won our first round against Team 253 from Tacoma. We then advanced to play the number one seed in the tournament, OJVA’s top 16 team loosing to them in 3 sets. Our girls stepped up having to play against the tallest team we had seen. Overall it was a great way to start our season. We finished 5^th! 1/22 Excel 15 Team Rox went undefeated for the day. We came in as the 5^th seed and finished 4^th. Going to Platinum division for the first time as a 15 year old team is not bad at all. We started the day winning our pool, going 2 games with everyone. Our first cross over, we met with Cowlitz 16 Black winning them in 2. We then met up with Boss and beat them in 3 games, Boss turned out to be a very good team and an exciting match for all. Girls played with energy and in control. Volleyball at its best! Olivia Coale stepped up in a big way for us as well, serving aces and digging/passing to contribute to our day of success. Lauren Harris, Sophie Peel, Abby Young Christina Elliott and Brooke Van Sickle are always dependable and always produce to the best of their ability. New comers Ryleigh Dobbins and Kate Swett have been instrumental in giving our nucleus that certain boost we have been missing in the past. Kaila Robinson from 14 Team Rox joined us as we were missing one of our starters. She stepped in and made some key powerful hits during our match with Boss. Thanks Kaila! So proud of our team!!!!!! Top Stats Kills: Brooke 70 attempts, 43 kills, hitting at .500%. Lauren 60 attempts, 24 kills hitting at .250%. Kate 36 attempts 13 kills, hitting at .250%. Top Servers: Abby 20/2 at 100%, Lauren 40/42 at 95%, Sophie 71/77 at 92% Aces: Sophie 12, Ryleigh 10 Passing: Lauren 2.36%, Sophie 2.21, Brooke 2.17, Christina 2.14, Abby 2.05 (unbelievable! When we pass well, we play well) Digs: Christina 19, Abby 18
1/22 Honestly, our girls played their hearts out in the Platinum division. We are a very young 15’s team in comparison to these 16 year old teams. We gave every team a good game. Our only win of the day was against KJVBC the number one team in platinum and beating them in two games! We added Maddie Pernich from 16 Team Rox to our team as we were down 2 players due to injuries leaving us with only 7 players. She made a huge impact on our team and had the second highest kills for the day. Thanks Maddie! It was a little tuff on our girls as they are use to winning. I have to keep reminding them, we are a young team and it is more important this year to take it all in and enjoy playing against such great teams. Our goal is to get back into the platinum division!
